RedFoot Cabaret & Diva: Up Late at the 2019 Village Festival
Amanda Hock (nee Locker) and Travis Hock are locals to the Capricorn Coast and have both always been heavily involved in the performing arts. Growing up studying drama and music theatre, they individually went on to tertiary studies in the same areas. Now as professional performers and educators, this team is enthusiastic about bringing this region and the surrounding areas exciting and innovative arts creations since creating their production company, Lock&Hock Productions.
Six years ago, Travis and Amanda created an original cabaret show that has since been used for festivals and corporate events. “The original premise for the show was to create caricatures of local performers and highlight their natural talents,” commented Amanda. “Our original cast consisted of five exaggerated personalities that made fun of the entertainment industry and all of its stereotypes”.
Over the years, Travis and Amanda have had the opportunity to workshop, develop and grow the RedFoot Cabaret saga and it now has over four chapters. “The show works on two levels,” said Travis, “There are gags for those who have watched RedFoot from it’s early days but each show is a stand-alone cabaret performance highlighting vocals, comedy skits, dance and all-around fun entertainment”.
RedFoot Cabaret can be seen again at this year’s CQ University’s Village Festival as the focus of the festival’s Opening Night Gala celebrations at the Yeppoon Town Hall. Working with Rotary on Capricorn Coast, the cabaret will be teamed with a multicourse dinner, a licensed bar and one more great surprise. This festival, Lock&Hock Productions are debuting a new show highlighting one of the RedFoot Cabaret characters, DIVA! In a special “up-late” cabaret show, Diva will get up-close, personal and uncensored in her own spotlight. Additionally, due to popular demand, RedFoot Cabaret and Diva: Up Late will have repeat performances on Saturday 3rd August.
